Hey, I ran a race!

Elk-King’s Traverse 50k

Oh that felt good! Well, actually not, but it felt amazing to be able to run 31 miles again! I am so thankful my body is capable of this again. It’s been a long time. A really, really long time.

The last time I toed the line was UTMB, and it did not go swimmingly. I finished a tough day on the trails, but it left me in pieces… both physically and mentally.

And then there was surgery.

And then there was a stress fracture.

And then there was the “bad things come in threes” incident.

And now, finally, a whole year later…. things are starting to fall into place.

It didn’t happen by accident though. It took a whole lot of patience, gratitude, and a great team helping me heal. My team, that helped piece me back together, includes Focus Physical Therapy, Alamine Barton at Bend Sports Acupuncture, and my strength coach, Joey Jacinto at Central Oregon Strength and Conditioning. These three things have been my key to return to running healthy, happy, and strong!

My first race back was Elk-King’s Traverse 50k but on by the great folks of Go Beyond Racing.

The race itself is not my focus here. My happiness comes from the fact that I navigated through an entire year of injury and rehab and came out for the better. I was THRILLED to just run 50k.

And ok, I ended up placing first and setting a new course record 🙂 I guess I should be happy about that too!
